How to get to Orosei
Plan your visit
The essentials first-timers ask about most. So you can spend less time planning and more time in the water.
Getting here
Fly into Olbia (OLB), about an hour and a half north, or Cagliari (CAG), roughly 2.5 hours south. Olbia, Cagliari and Alghero airports all operate year-round. Ferries also serve Olbia and Golfo Aranci from mainland Italy.
Getting around
A rental car is well worth it. The best beaches are spread along the coast, 10–30 minutes apart. The old town itself is easy on foot.
When to go
May and June suit longer days outdoors; September often combines beach days with quieter streets. October can be pleasant, but sea conditions and seasonal services are less predictable.
Everyday essentials
Unlike many seasonal resorts, Orosei is a lived-in town all year round, so its supermarkets, pharmacies, ATMs and bakeries stay open in every season. Plus a weekly market. Just stock up before beach days, as many coves have no shops.
Choosing your route
Compare the complete journey, including flight or ferry times and the onward drive. Olbia is a convenient starting point for Orosei; Cagliari and Alghero may suit different flight schedules. Driving times vary with traffic and your route.
Without a car, check ARST timetables for your exact date and allow for connections. Do not assume a direct airport bus or a late-evening service. A car gives more flexibility for countryside stays and scattered beaches.
